After couple of complications, I am happy to announce that we are back in Mombasa and ready to create magic together !
The path to success isn’t easy.
So many times, I feel like I want to give up. When I continuously hit the wall. Not only in Kenya, but Poland, France . . I don’t have the energy to keep going.
I lost my job, I had to move out from Paris and once again live on suitcases and mixed feelings. But at the time the intuition was telling me one thing : focus on Sewing Together, which I did. I came to Mombasa in November / December. And what happened ? My father passed away and once again I didn’t know what’s next. I decided to focus on finishing the 3rd Edition of Sewing Together . I had a great team of women, but life again made a joke on me, when 3 days before my departure I found out the the school I have created , named after my father EKotala , all the sudden needed to be shut down. Why ? I really don’t know why, to be honest. I was left alone with all the machines and decision to make. I won’t lie, I was considering giving up. I had enough. How much harder can it get ?
But at the same time, I remembered wise words of my Best Friend : If success was easy, streets will be full of millionaires and there is not enough millions in the World to make it happen.
Keep pushing.
My mind was set. Let’s search for solution.
I strongly believe that in life, there is a certain magic. And some sort of energy which attracts what’s meant to be. It worked. My amazing team of girls came together to make the impossible – possible.
Starting from Judy, who in some sort of miracle way told me she has this house, which she wanted to have as center of fashion, photography and creation. Unfortunately, COVID made it impossible. But life brought us together for a reason. To make it happen : but together ! VENI VIDI AMAVI – I came , I saw, and I loved it. So I took it !
And now we have a place where I can live, teach and make collections.
Two days before I left Mombasa in December we moved everything here with Carol.
In January, another ST student, Shaulene gave me magical news, that she is on a break from school looking for internship, and she would be more than happy to do it with another friend Miriam and Sewing Together ! She made a decision to prepare the school before my arrival , and did all the necessary shopping, so as soon as I am back we can start working.
Then we have Saida, Gladys – who didn’t give up on me – and came as soon as school opened and started to design, sew and help.
And that’s our story !
Now we are looking for more ladies who are willing to learn and create a family with us.
YES WE ARE A FAMILY ! responsible for each other , helping each other , going forward together in life.
And for that I will be forever grateful.
That’s the reason to not give up .
That’s the reason WE are here.
